Sunday Ride 10/03/24 – Hot Weather Policy

Sunday Ride 10/03/24 – Hot Weather Policy

The BG’s have a hot weather policy. Yes, we do. It just hasn’t been needed for 4 years.

Sundays Forecast is 38 degrees, and it will be hot overnight. Hence the ride is short and designed to get us home by 10am. We will decide on the road if its better to caffinate at Glenelg or ride back to Norwood.

Meet: 7:00am in the City – Please Note the Early Start

Route: The Original. Anzac Hwy, Glenelg, Bower Rd, Return

Coffee will either Glenelg or Norwood. To be decided by consensus.

Make sure you freeze your bottles.

A reminder that it’s Womadelaide this weekend so those of us coming from the North East will have to dodge hungover wommians who have woken up under a bush cuddling a fruit bat.

Sunday Ride - Outer Harbour via Port Road

SUNDAY RIDE - Beach via Port Road

Hello BG lovelies...

With Aldo away in Perf satisfying he and Helen's 'interesting' penchant for wrestling, yours truly has taken over the communication channels for the week. Don't worry, I won't spend the whole time extolling the virtues of Titanium and Wahoo Elmnts.

The weather on Sunday is looking pretty good, with light winds and a predicted maximum temperature of 31 degrees. Sunrise will be at 6.59am. We'll be in the waning gibbous moon phase, with sun protection recommended from 9.40am until 5.20pm. In the words of Max Verstappen after winning yet another Grand Prix whilst managing not to fall asleep, it's looking 'very lovely'...

Anyway, the simple message is to be there.

Meet in the city at 7.30am for a ride to Glenelg via Port Road. Coffee at KOM, followed by a negotiated return. Maybe via Outer Harbour for those looking for their February Grand Fondo badge on Strava or maybe via ANZAC Highway for those still rediscovering their form (or on a promise).

Anyhoo, be there, it'll be grouse.

Sunday Ride – Hahndorf

 *Sunday Ride – Hahndorf*

I love the smell of strudel in the morning, it smells like cinnamon. This Sundays ride is Hahndorf.  River Road is now officially the heavy vehicle bypass. So, we will be riding the Strada Bianchi of Kangaroo Reef road.   Extra points will be awarded for sparkly knicks.

The earlier meeting time didn’t really work so we will revert to standard.

Meet: 7:30am is the city or 8:30 am at the Mt Lofty Bollards, that’s the top of the hill

Route: Old Mt Barker Rd, Mt Barker Rd, Aldgate Valley Rd, Mylor, Strathalbyn Rd, briefly on River Rd, Right on Kangaroo Reef rd, Hard right to stay on Kangaroo Reef Rd at Snelling Rd, Echunga Rd, Hahndorf

Coffee at Hahndorf, caffe to be selected but Otto’s by default

Return Route decided at Coffee!

I have seen lots of very fit cyclists on the bike track I am guessing they are here for the track championships.

TDU Weekend

Saturday Willunga Stage

It looks like most people are driving tomorrow so if we can message each other on whatsapp to arrange meetups. I have been mother-in-lawed so will be down later in the day. Given it’s 35 degrees plus this may be wise.

Sunday ride TDU viewing.

Here is the plan for Sunday. Our base is at Uraidla. The bowls club will not be doing a BBQ this year but we figure Uraidla pub/bakery will have something for lunch. The bowls club may still have beer.

Last year worked well so we will do the same with appropriate variations.

Timings are for Gentlemen and sore legs.

Meet: 7:30 am in the City

1. Glenelg via Henley Beach rd for coffee. Arrive by 8:15 am

2. Glenelg to Belair via Cross Rd. Arrive 9:45 am

3. Belair to Windy Point. Arrive 10:30 am

Alternate is meet us at the BP Station at top of hill at 10:30am

Find a spot to watch the Peloton on the Windy Point Climb. Big hairpin at the restaurant by default.

4. View TDU first time over Windy Point Estimated at 11:20am

5. Ride through to Uraidla for Lunch and Beer via National Park (not Saddlehill)

Peloton expected at 1:30pm and 2:10pm at Uraidla

This itinerary should provide 30-45 minutes slack to deal with traffic and exploding legs.

Carry some snacks with you.

See you Sunday.
